Premier weg, regering blijft?

Wanneer Blair het beste kon aftreden, vroeg de BBC. Ik kon het niet laten:

In a normal parliamentary democracy, the Prime Minister steps down as soon as his government loses the support of the majority in parliament. Or if there are pressing personal reasons for him to step down. Neither seems to be the case in the UK. Being out of touch with the people or his party, or having a successor waiting in the wings, or having been Prime Minister, are all petty reasons for a change of national leader. Tony Blair should stay on until the next elections.

Or is the UK not a normal parliamentary democracy?

Het blijft een raar land met een raar systeem. Vrijdag ga ik er weer heen.
